We offer drop-in meditation classes that are suitable for beginners as well as experienced meditators. Classes are at The Spire (82 Sydenham St. inside the Sydenham St. United Church), 2nd floor (at the end of the hallway on the right). Each class includes a teaching and two guided meditations. Through these meditation classes, we can learn how to use Buddha’s advice to solve all of our daily problems and find the peace and happiness we seek. The times and days of the classes are below. More information as to how to find us at The Spire can also be found on the pages below. The classes are $14, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. Our classes are structured as follows:

1) Guided Meditation

Be guided in a breathing meditation so as to connect you to a feeling of inner peace. No prior meditation experience is necessary.

2) Short Talk

Every week the teachings explore one aspect of Buddha’s

teachings, which focus on solutions to problems in daily life.

3) Concluding

At the end of the class, we conclude with a meditation based on the teaching that was given during the class, followed by Q & A.

Why Meditate?

The purpose of meditation is to cultivate positive states of mind, conducive to peace and well-being, and overcome negative habits of mind. Happiness is a state of mind, therefore the real source of happiness lies in the mind, not in external situations. When our mind is peaceful we are free from worries and mental discomfort, and we experience true happiness.
